Biomass Material Preparation

Various biomass materials can be used as raw materials for biomass gasification systems to produce syngas, which is then used for power generation.

Before using biomass materials for gasification, preparation is required to make the biomass materials suitable for gasification and achieve good gasification performance.

The general requirements for biomass material preparation are: sizing and drying.

Size: Make the biomass materials into uniform sizes less than 60mm

Drying: Dry the biomass materials to a moisture content of less than 25%

For size, a crusher or pulverizer can be used.

For drying, a rotary dryer is usually used. The rotary dryer is reliable in operation and has a large processing capacity.

The rotary dryer is mainly composed of a rotary dryer body, a lifting plate, a transmission device, a support device, a sealing device and a heat source system. The dryer is a rotating body slightly inclined from the horizontal direction. The material is added from the upper end, and the high-temperature hot air and the material flow into the rotating body. As the rotating body rotates, the material flows to the lower end under the action of gravity. A cloth is installed on the inner wall of the rotary dryer body to spray the material, thereby increasing the contact surface between the material and the airflow and improving the drying efficiency.

The dried material is collected from the lower part of the rotary dryer.
